Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee, is a town rich in history and tradition. Known for its natural mineral springs, people would come by the thousands seeking the restorative power of nature. The town saw development of mineral springs resorts and people came from all over to experience “taking the waters”. The hotel registers included names of judges, lawyers, musicians, singers and politicians.

The Folk Medicine Festival is a celebration of folk life as well as the folk medicine that is a rich part of our history.

The goals of the FMF is to preserve a history of life at the time of Red Boilings Springs’ days as a ineral resort spa; expose each generation to the crafts and artistry of their ancestors; and give folk artists a venue for expression.

The town of Red Boiling Springs, TN is the venue for the festivals with events, vendors, crafts people, speakers and a quilt show throughout the town. See a sample map below from past events.

The cost to attend often free or a very low nominal fee as supported by our vendors, crafts people and sponsors. Some activites have a small fee. You can support the crafts people and vendors by shoping at their booths and you can support local Red Boiling Springs Businesses who volunteer and give of their time and resources by staying at their hotel, eating at their restaurants and shopping locally.
